Tinubu Names New Service Chiefs, Appoints Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff
President Bola Tinubu appoints new service chiefs, naming General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff and reshaping the Armed Forces’ top leadership to strengthen Nigeria’s security structure.
President Bola Tinubu has announced a sweeping shake-up in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, aimed at reinforcing the country’s security framework.
In the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede succeeds General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff. Major-General W. Shaibu has been named the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes duty as Chief of Naval Staff.
Meanwhile, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue in his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
President Tinubu commended the outgoing service chiefs for their “patriotic service and dedicated leadership,” urging the new appointees to “justify the confidence reposed in them” through professionalism, vigilance, and unity in safeguarding the nation.
According to the Presidency, all appointments take immediate effect.
