When Cynicism Becomes Stupidity

Sometime ago on this platform, and on some national dailies, I wrote a piece titled “Conspiracy of the Elites”. In that write up, I tried to capture why Nigerians act in the manner for which they do today. Why they are comfortable with mediocrity, rotten system, incompetent individual, corruption, impunity, injustice and why they thrive on the banner of negativity. I drew a theory to why they constantly choose to abide by the antics of a non-accountable and non-transparent government, and why Nigerians may continue to be led by same tired heads who for many decades, conspired against them.

I chose to drive back into history because of a repeated event that has continued to hurt us a nation fighting to be free from the clutches of unpatriotic, selfish and evil minded FEW that sits in the corridors of power.

The days I blame the Elites that kept us in this state has gone. Yes their activities rides on because they live on, still wheel great power and still control many minds. That day has gone because for decades we all looked up to them to effect positive change that will translate into a better Nigeria, but how can one look up to a destroyer to overnight turn into a builder? They can never change, they will never change. They can’t and won’t fix Nigeria and that, is exactly why my blame left them and turned to the Nigerian people, the very ones confined into oblivion for decades, to be the ones to bring about that needed change.

The Conspiracy of the Elites has been running for the past 55 years that Nigeria as an independent nation, has lived. In that number of years, they have polluted the minds of the people, making them to believe that nothing will ever work in Nigeria, that they will never amount to anything. That they, the Elites, will always dictate the tone as they are the payers of the pipers. Nigerians, at all levels, lost their foresight, term everything bad or having ulterior motives. They believe that nothing can ever be done just for the sake of empathy and being human. They fought and still fight the #BringBackOurGirls Advocacy Movement, they had concerns when Enough Is Enough Group came out to defend them, they referred to Buharian Culture as an organization seeking attention and political appointment, they see every move as something that’s born out of a concealed motive. This has been the problem and this is exactly the reason we as Nigerians, the ordinary Nigerians, have not been able to unite against the dark forces of the Elites.

I dare to say today, that Cynicism Becomes Stupidity, when the cynic cannot differentiate between what’s real and what’s not.

Fellow Nigerians, we already have the Elites against us, we being against ourselves will only make things worst for us, the future of Nigeria and that of the next generations to come.

We have an OUT here, there are groups doing great things today to help rebuild Nigeria, to take back their country from the hands of those thieves that stole it from them, JOIN THEM or GET OUT OF THEIR WAY. Enough is Enough!

God bless Nigeria!
