National Issues
Who is behind the mask?
One of the beautiful features of Democracy is the freedom of speech. During the Military era, individuals like myself can’t even sneeze let alone have an opinion on national matters. Then even strong individuals in the country get missing without been found again. People mind the way they laugh within their houses at night for the fear of been overheard by funny neighbours. But even at that level of secrecy and intimidation, live was more meaningful than it is today. Students could be sure of jobs after graduation, power supply was poor but not as poor as it is today, corruption was there but not as advanced as todays corruption, first class graduates from the universities could be sure of jobs or scholarships but today, some first class graduates are okada riders in the busy streets of Lagos…who is behind the mask?
Today it is Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Farouk Lawan and Otedola. Tomorrow the baton of corruption might go to who knows, maybe Senator David Mark or Mr President(Goodluck Jonathan) or his assistant(Namadi Sambo). My point here is, these people in the helm of affairs has formed a perfect pattern(PP) of making their pain and their supposed public embarrassment go away. It is now a thing of Mr A covering for Mr B so Mr B can cover for Mr A when the time comes, what a plan!
Very rare you hear young people speak of their dreams anymore, because they now believe that Nigeria is a place where dreams hardly come through. Same old people with 20th century thinking still occupies positions today. The youths needs experience they say, but from where will such experience come from when they are not even allowed to come close to the central doors?
The question i have for Nigerians is, who is behind the mask?
