A Brief Biography of Mohbad
Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, Mohbad’s journey in the music industry began with his unwavering passion for rap and hip-hop. His distinct style, which blended elements of Afrobeats, trap, and street-hop, quickly gained him a dedicated fanbase. Despite his growing success, Mohbad remained grounded and dedicated to his craft. As investigators delve into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, it is crucial that the utmost professionalism and diligence are exercised. The Nigerian police force must conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the truth. Any individuals found guilty of wrongdoing, regardless of their status or position, must face the full consequences of their actions.

A similar murder case happened in Osun state concerning a master’s student from the Obafemi Awolowo University called Timothy Adegoke who was murdered in a hotel owned by a well-known business man called Adedoyin Ramoni, it took barely two months before Mr. Adedoyin was arraigned and court sentenced him to death by hanging. This case teaches us a straightforward process and less delay in justice. This is more reason why Nigerians are clamoring for a swift justice just like the saying; justice delayed is justice denied.

In a case as sensitive as this, it is imperative that the police handle the matter with the utmost care and respect for the deceased and their loved ones. Transparency and open communication with the public are essential to maintain trust and ensure that justice is served.

Prior to the death of Mohbad, he wrote a petition against certain persons named Sam Larry Elegushi. According to the petition, Sam Larry works for the King of Elegushi, one of the most prominent kings in Lagos state. Mohbad stressed in that petition that Sam Larry has threatened his life and that was seen in a video where the latter led a group with machetes to a place Mohbad was shooting a video with Zlatan.

Some parts of the public are also of the opinion that the police have not applied professionalism to the investigation as they should. An instance is how the house where the homicide took place was not sealed; this act could help destroy evidence that might have helped to unravel the cause of his death.

The Role of Mohbad’s Wife and Child Amidst the tragedy, Mohbad’s wife, whose name is Wunmi Cynthia Adebanjo, finds herself in a precarious position. While the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death remain unclear, it is crucial that she cooperates fully with the investigation to establish the truth and clear any doubts.

In one of the first posts, Wunmi said ‘they’ve killed the nigga’. Although this statement seems unclear as there might be questions about why she refers to her husband as ‘nigga’. Also, in some of her statements, she said she knows how ‘they’ bullied her husband to death and they’re trying to do the same to her and her child. This statement means she has some information about the demise of Mohbad which can help unravel the mystery of his untimely death.

It was also recalled that Wunmi has threatened legal action against her father-in-law for allegedly defaming her. However, some people are of the opinion that just as Wunmi had threatened her father-in-law, she could have filed a suit against those she claimed took her husband away from her. Some of her comments in her interview with Sahara Reporters stated; ”I know a lot, but they won’t allow me to speak my truth…” Wunmi also said “…I wish he had summoned the courage to come public as many times as he could…” The statement above should be self-education for Wunmi that probably Mohbad died because he didn’t speak out. Hence, the best she can do in order not to end up like him is to speak out in the best way she could. Wunmi already alleged attempt on her life and her child in her statement; “…I want the whole world to know that I tried to speak up, just as my husband always wanted to, but they bullied him into silence as they are currently doing to me…”

Also, if deemed necessary by the authorities, Mohbad’s wife should voluntarily submit to a DNA test to prove her innocence and dispel any unfounded allegations. This act of cooperation not only demonstrates her commitment to uncovering the truth but also serves to protect the interests of her son, who now faces an uncertain future without his father.

For the security and safety of Wunmi and her child, some groups of people have advised her to share whatever information she has about the murderers of her late husband so that her son won’t suffer the same fate. However, some other groups are of the opinion that she might be involved in the murder.

Furthermore, it is imperative that Mohbad’s wife and child receive the necessary support and inheritance to secure their well-being. As the legal beneficiaries of the late artist’s estate, they must be provided with their rightful share, ensuring that they are not further victimized by the tragic circumstances. Hence, Wunmi should brace up, be strong, and get more involved in advocating for justice for Mohbad. Without that, she might not be able to move on or be mentally and physically safe. The death of Mohbad is a tragic loss for the Nigerian music industry and his countless fans worldwide. As the investigation progresses, it is crucial that the government understands that securing justice in this case means securing justice for every Nigerian youth. It will be a respect for every human life and, of course, every Nigerian youth’s matter. No matter how uncomfortable or inconvenient it may be, justice should be non-negotiable at this point. Only then can Nigeria’s democratic legacy be truly honored.
