Why Believers Should be Forgivers -By Jimoh Hussain Kehinde

Forgiveness

Apparently, human beings are variants in behavior, culture, religion, ethnic, race, language and hobby among other things. Likewise, they exist in different states, countries, regions, and continents. There are eight planets in the solar system; the earth — where homosapiens domicile is one of them. Current population-density of the world is over seven billion.

No one is an island of his or herself, in the course of relating together, we are bound to offend each other, knowingly or unknowingly. This piece is nuel to emphasize the significance of forgiveness of an offense. When the sinner reconciles and seeks forgiveness, we ought to forgive and forget, and even if the person does not realize his mistake, we can forsake it to let peace reign.

Few months ago, the media aired the news of a woman who stabbed her friend, Glory Okon, to death because of boyfriend. From the available information, the murderer, Anita Ofili confessed that she murdered the deceased for snatching her boyfriend ten years ago. It is cruel and brutal for someone not to forgive a decade’s offense and avenge it with a dead mission.

Similarly, Qur’an 11 verse 52 read thus: “And O my people! Ask for forgiveness of your lord and then repent to him; He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as a mini moon (criminals, disbelievers in the oneness of Allah”.

According to the Bible, Matthew chapter 6 verse 14-15 says, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins”.

The message here is that everyone of us should be forgivers if truly we are believers. Avert holding grudges against someone, instead, call the person and sort it out.
