Why I Am Not Endorsing Any Political Party! -By Idris Ahmed

Anything short of the above arrangements, I fear more violence and abductions during the 2023 general elections. The terrorists will have a field day at the polling stations. Our people will be made to pay heavy price for a worthless exercise that has no relevance whatsoever to their very existence and quality of life.

Let me get straight to the point. I am not endorsing any political party under the current unprecedented level of abject poverty and insecurity across our beloved country.

Thanks to this wicked, callous, incompetent and irresponsible government, the worst Nigeria has ever seen, our people are highly disinfrenchised and incapacitated.

In many parts of the North, there have not been commercial, agricultural and educational activities over the last two years. Our people are living in hell in their fatherland.

So, under these dire situations, is it that people have taken leave of their sanity to think that there will be peaceful, free and fair general elections in 2023? I honestly don’t think so!

Neither the irresponsible government nor the selfish politicians are agitating for the general elections to be postponed until there is adequate security for human lives and property across the land. This tells us that the politicians across the entire political spectrum are in it purely to enrich themselves and families at the expense of the masses. Unfortunately, the security of the Nigerian state and the wellbeing of the masses is the last thing on their minds.

Buhari has already squandered the best goodwill ever accorded to a Nigerian politician by the masses, who put aside their political, religious, tribal and other prejudices to bring him into power. To save himself from being branded the worst Nigerian president of all time, I contend that he should do the following:

  1. Scrap the 2023 general elections as there is no indication whatsoever that it is going to be safe, free and fair. He should use the money to partly pay our mounting foreign debts and partly beef up security.
  2. For once in his lifetime, he should have the courage/audacity to comprehensively purge the manifestly corrupt Nigerian security apparatus, especially the military. A commander in chief who is afraid of coupé is a worthless commander in chief!
  3. After cancelling the elections and purging the security apparatus, he should hand over governance of the country to a caretaker government made of competent eminent Nigerians, who under the guidance and protection of ECOWAS and the United Nations will then be able to conduct a safe, free and fair general elections.

Anything short of the above arrangements, I fear more violence and abductions during the 2023 general elections. The terrorists will have a field day at the polling stations. Our people will be made to pay heavy price for a worthless exercise that has no relevance whatsoever to their very existence and quality of life.

I rest my case.

Dr. Idris Ahmed.
