Why INEC Should Watch Out For APC In Bayelsa -By Thombra Dokubo

We wish to call the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies, to the grand plan by the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to infiltrate the ranks of some civil society organisations that have been accredited as observers by INEC in the December 5, 2015 governorship election in the state.
We are constrained to raise this alarm in lieu of a statement credited to the Bayelsa APC few days ago, accusing the Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of plans to bring partisan observers to the state during the election. The APC made this accusation based on the endorsement of Governor Dickson by some Bayelsa-based non governmental organisations.

While it smacks ignorance on the part of APC to conclude that it is those organisations in Bayelsa that have been accredited by INEC as observers, we are making this call based on realiable information received which confirmed the APC plan being hatched by a special assistant to a Southwest Governor who was reelected last year for a second term in office.

It would be recalled that the APC employed same tactics during the governorship election in Anambra State where a group of “observers” were rounded up with arms and ammunitions. We are, therefore, calling on the INEC and other stakeholders to be vigilant as the APC and its governorship candidate are hell-bent on using every means, be it legitimate or not, to capture power in Bayelsa State. We want to, once again, enjoin the peace-loving people of Bayelsa to remain calm and law-abiding in the days ahead.
