Every eleventh day of July before the year 1996 is like common day to all my friends and family members. But, on the same day twenty-five years ago, my family welcomes me as new born baby into this glorious planet to mark the day as a special day for them. Since I become a grownup man to have my right sense with me, I acknowledged that day as a special for me out of 365 days that make up a calendar year.

Eleventh day of July remains the only day to remember how a woman put me to bed in a very awkward moment. It stands as the only day to celebrate my existence as a living creature. The only day that people remember me for good and the goodness injects prayers into their mouths. The only day I felt loved the most out of all other days in a year.

Surprisingly, this year, 2021, on Sunday, the eleventh day of July, my case went different against it usual merriment day. I shed tears, I cried, because I lost my loved one. so sad one of my favorites musician in the Nigerian entertainment industry died. Who died? Olarewaju  Fasasi died! The Naija ninja pop man left this planet on my birthday day.

On the day, everything about the day started with me very well, in the early hour of the day, I got different calls, text messages, email messages, and whatsapp messages from my friends and family members wishing well and pray for me, as it is a culture.  Indeed it was a nice morning, I started unboxing gifts from friends sent earlier before the day. I posted some on my social media platforms. I planned to have a get-together party together with my friends. The sad news came in and everything went phenomenal.

About 10: 30 AM when I saw the mournful headline online on Punch news, it changed all my entire body system, I had the feelings that something weird has happen to me. My mood suddenly changed, and I lost energy in executing any of earlier plans after I completely read the whole news.

WHO IS SOUND SULTAN?

Mr Olarewaju Fasasi might portray himself as a different person to different people, many people know him to be an ordinary musician, as form my case, Sound Sultan is an icon who deserves to live long. His lifestyle is like that of saints. What he preaches most is “Love and unity to bring change to our society”.

Sound Sultan’s music is exceptional from others, he sings above creativity, he passes message to people in the right form. He made music a weapon to fight against the oppressors and bad governance in our country.  Whenever he wants to make a secular music, he always make them to sound pleasant in the ears of the listeners.

I cannot forget about this, in the year 2002, when I was still nursery school, one of his musical tune “Jagbajantis” was people’s favorite then.  I love the song, I and some of my colleagues do mime the song in class during leisure hour. When I was growing up, I fell for his tunes, I remember I used my money to purchase a CD copy of his album “SS4” during my secondary school days.

I did some findings about him, then, I got to discover that he doesn’t smoke neither he takes alcohol. His inspiration was purely natural from God. I passionately love his story.

SOUND SULTAN IS MY HERO

Although I have some special category of human beings that motivate me whenever I am down, of which sound sultan is rightly one among them.  His comic smile aided by his gap tooth make him special. I love him more for his handwork toward his music career and for always trying to be relevant in the entertainment industry. I can testify that people like Sound Sultan are not common in our generation.

If I am chanced to see you again, I would say this to you: “Olarewaju Fasasi! Wherever you are, give yourself a peace of mind. Allow your memory to bring good fortune to us”.  I so much believe people like you can never die, they only go for rest, until the last day that we shall meet again.  Rest In Peace!  my dear brother Olarewaju Fasasi, your brother Tunmise Ajeigbe loves you. You are gone but you can never be forgotten.
