It is no news that the government of the day in Ogun State is embarking on some projects which are nothing but for a lack of a better word, waste of fund.

Statistically, the government of the day claimed that they have executed many projects since the inception of their administration but from what is obtainable, the claims are nothing but propagandas.

Reference to the above projects, one will agree that there are many other projects that require urgent attention which government should look into but because of some motive that is best known to the people in charge, it hasn’t gained audience, turning many of those projects to abandoned ones.

Without being sentimental, the government did something fantastic in between and that’s the housing project but unfortunately as it seems, the people who need that project will not benefit from it. However I won’t sheathe my kudos from the Governor for the initiative of the Yellow Roof.

To the express road light, it is the highest testament of not having a good idea for projects. The past administration run the project on solar but what we see in today’s administration is the powering of road light with Mekano generator set which particularly uses diesel and requires a high-cost maintainance.

In all, the most wasteful project in this administration is the Yellow Bus Terminal. The project’s idea is not realistic as the city has less passengers of which the current transportation system can cover but the idea of painting the whole town Yellow appears the only driving force for this project which to me is fatuous.

Many of the taxi drivers I have engaged regarding this project have shown disapproval to it and condemned outright the project as to them, it’s very likely to factionalize them because the masses are not increasing nor is the road getting wider to validate government bringing another transportation wing as a rivalry to the existing one.

The truth is, while there are many abandoned projects in the state, the last thing the government should be thinking of is embarking on frivolous projects gulping billions of naira that could bring completion to the abandoned yet worthier ones.

A canny government is one that recognizes waste and avoid it, not see waste and invest heavily in it. It is my hope that we have a such government.
