Peter Obi and Datti-Yusuf

The word fascism comes from the Latin fasces, which denotes a bundle of wooden rods that typically included a protruding axe blade. In ancient Rome, lictors (attendants to magistrates) would hold the fasces as a symbol of the penal power of their magistrate. The first European fascist, Benito Mussolini, adopted this symbol both to recall the greatness of the Roman Empire and to reinforce his authority as the eventual dictator of Italy. Fascist regimes like his required their citizens to be as unified as the tightly bound fasces.

Fascism was born in Italy during World War I and came to power with the ex-journalist and war veteran Benito Mussolini in 1922. Since the 1950s, dozens of top historians and political scientists have put fascism, especially the Italian and German versions, under the microscope. They’ve come up with a pretty solid agreement on what it is, both as a political ideology and as a political movement, factoring in all the (sometimes contradictory) things its progenitors said as they ascended to power.

So: just how fascist is Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and his principal Peter Gregory Obi? On the fascist meter, we can begin to evaluate fascism from the point of view, whether or not Peter Obi’s ignoble movement “ObiBients” are so qualified as fascists. As a nation, we dodged a stray bullet. The headless nattering nitwits mobs perfectly explained by the Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka validates that of Prof Chukwuma Soludo the current Governor of Anambra state. What is more, it is important to spare yourself of exchanging banter or argue with them. They only see things that sooth and fit their narrative.

Nobel laureate gave Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the name “Nest of killers” after series of politically motivated assassinations during the inglorious era of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the name stuck. Now he’s given a new name to the “Obingos” “Nattering nitwits”. His coinages always have deep meanings and huge impact. No wonder Gani Fawehinmi of the blessed memory said he always had a dictionary on standby anytime Soyinka speaks. Unarguably, ‘WS’ is no doubt a wordsmith.

ObiBients of nitwits have zero respect for elders, only thing they’re good at is their childish tantrums, dragging their ancestors by their balls and using their left hands to pass water across to their mothers. Part of the ObiBients dramatic persona is one Chimamada Adichie a supposedly iconic figure claiming in her petition that Mr Peter Obi, the candidate she supported actually won that election simply because he was projected to do so by some American pollsters! No wonder some Nigerians would accuse another person of witchcraft just because they saw them looking weird in their dream or because some marabouts told them so.

It is instructive to note that ObiBients are like IPOB with similar trajectory and templates. IPOB are insane and senseless bigots and hypocrites. It’s good that all sane and sensible people are now seen their madness. Prof Chukwuma Soludo, called them: “Headless mob” thereafter, the Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka validates that of Prof Chukwuma Soludo and described Peter Obi’s ignoble movement called ObiBients as “Nattering nitwits” also Prof. Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu: “Unlettered and uncultured behaviors of people” the big question is Peter Obi, the ideal template for a burgeoning democracy in the nation?

I never realized that Nigerians can easily be fooled until Peter Obi showed up in national politics. Peter, capitalized on the weakness and deficiency in our society resulting in poorly raised angry youths who’s unenviable misfortunes was politicized. He took advantage of the shallowness, inability to contextualize and properly scrutinized issues that was full of Fallacies. The way and manner many of these Obidients reason shows they have a warped mindset…. whatever anyone says or does that doesn’t suit their narratives, the next thing is to stigmatize such a person as persona non-grata.

To be clear: It has been established after a thorough and holistic investigation into the leaked audio conversation between Peter Obi and our revered Bishop David Oyedepo the President of Living faith church; that  Peter Obi made some strong words which are capable of dividing the country and increasing our fault-lines as exemplified by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed threats and the ObiBients unruly behaviors. With this, I believe Nigerians will know that Peter Obi, is not a political figure that can be trusted to lead the country and this will definitely put an end to his scheming and most likely end his political career. We should be thankful to God for guilding us to take a right decision on Feb 25.

In conclusion, permit me to say that, despite the unpleasant situations, I have always been an ideologue of ‘African Solutions for African Problems’, yet I wouldn’t be so quaint-headed enough as to throw the baby out with the bath water; we ought to borrow a leaf for what works for our political/cultural disposition and abjure what doesn’t. We are, like the rest of world, not totally unique in our existential reality. Therefore, we need to revisit the issues of equity, fair play and justice as it relates to our uniqueness.
