It is better to pretend and act like you are nobody than to show forth who you are and lose all elements of value and prestige you possess. People portend to honour you more if they by themselves discover what you are capable of doing, rather than when you tell them yourself.

Your ability, skills, qualifications and strength should not be displayed or made known every time it is needed, rather when it is most needed. This way, such contribution, action, skills & idea will be very much appreciated and be of utmost value since it’s usefulness cannot be discarded at the moment.

People who often brag about their abilities, achievements or possession are seen as nobody (usually lousy & proud). Just imagine if the President of a country visits a local town in another country without any escort or royal entourage, he will be more welcome since no one knows his identity. Compared to when he says I’m this, I am that! Then, they just ignore him and see him as nobody. In the event of the supposed president not revealing who he is, if they later get to know, they will further subject him to more favorable treatment based on what they’ve just discovered about him.

Never (do not) go to a gathering to boast about who you are, what you have or places you’ve been to. It’s all a waste of time because some people have achieved far more than that and are much more humble.

It is important to reiterate that, for seminars, public talks & conference meeting purposes, you might decide to mention some of your qualifications which showcases your area of expertise as well as added skills you possessed in the process of acquiring your certificates.

Vestra boni operis loquor tibi. [Let your good work speak for you], let your good name gain ground, do not brag yet, do not boast of anything, the time cometh when people will celebrate you & not you celebrating yourself.

Pretend like you’re nobody, you portend to have more honor then, than when you show/display who you are. It’s called consummate humility
