While countless number of innocent citizens die like Christmas fowl on a daily basis, President Mohammadu Buhari is on an illegal private vacation in the UK. This disturbing tragedy can, however, only occur in a country that places politics over governance; a country that is ruled and not governed.

Before now, I had thought that the security and welfare of the people is the primary purpose of our government but I was obviously mistaken. Our leaders are out there to destroy us! In fact, it seems the political leadership of the country derives joy and ultimate satisfaction in our deaths and the danger our lives are plunged into.

It is sad that the fast-growing rate of armed robbery, kidnapping, herdsmen attacks, police unlawful killings and all other security malaises bedeviling the country seem not ending anytime soon and this is so because ours is not a government that values the citizens’ lives but one whose sole interest is the vain desires to remain in power, cruelly accumulate wealth from our collective sweats and maintain fame.

Nigeria is presently not fit for habitation. And who knows if that is the reason the President ran away for refuge in a developed country.

If we continue to stay here, we shall be killed by the failure of our leaders either at a time or by installment. And whether we speak against their conspiracy with our killers and their disturbing silence or we join the bandwagon of those who throw weights behind this embarrassing leadership, it shall not change the fact that we can get consumed anytime.

This is not about APC or PDP. This is not about loving the President or not — as the primary duty of a citizen is to love his country. This is about Nigeria and the teeming masses.

I ask, with the level of bloodshed in Nigeria, how does our President sleeps at night?
Where do we go from here?
Who shall save us from the avoidable claws of death?
