How COVID-19 Palliative Replaces Ramadan Gesture In Bauchi -By Adamu Yalwa Gabi

It is a well known fact, that the electorates, masses or the govern are always at the receiving end be it from ward level, constituency. Senatorial districts or by extension across a particular state as a whole.

This nomenclature or categories of people are usually under the control of a figure head just as the “LION KING” which survived and lived in a DEN. They equally decide the faith of a politician, so also served as the alpha and omega neither in every political Arena whom without their mandate no any partisan politician or opportunist could be elected nor to be declared winner in a battle ground.

Every nook and cranny of Bauchi state is being led by Governor Bala Mohammad who ventured into politics far back 2007 and won senatorial seat under the auspieces of his “Boss” Isa Yuguda with strong political propaganda just as it was originated during the former German President “Adolphus Hitler” to capture the minds of the constituents merely to sieze power from his predecessor Bar. M.A Abubakar who was the first Governor to break the jinx by serving for only one term in office since the return of democracy in 1999 and equally described as an political apparantee that was opportune to came to power coincidently and without good manifesto and a well design blue print on what to archive for the state while in power.

Indeed without any iota of doubt, the people of Bauchi state unanimously join heads together to bring a change on the negative narrative of the past administration, even though it was a government of the change mantra under the umbrella of All Progressive Congress (APC) which president Muhammadu Buhari and commander in chief odf the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria belongs to.

Moreover, not only the political gladiators but also all parcet of human being alive with the exception of the yet unborn as well as the newly born babies could bear me witness that the Bauchi state government of the day was realized due to collective efforts of the masses by way of voting it into power after going for a re-run election which was the first in the history of Governorship election in the state with the aim to achieving some set targets which may not be unconnected with the tradition of wearing attractive fashion wears, driving luxurious cars, marrying beautiful wives in addition to building expensive mansions and above all have sense of belonging as a dream of every political agent.

My opinion as a young writer and indigene of the state will not be complete without expressing my ordeal when I saw with my two natural eyes, touched with my hands and infact used my nose as a sensory organ to taste the food items given as a palliative to covid19 pandemic from the Federal Government but this time as a Ramadan gifts to stakeholders and electorates which according to a saying and I Quotes “TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN MUCH IS EXPECTED”.

Just as a logo type which has a distinct style there was a message on the outer part of the polythene leather covering 5 small packs of sugar that read CA-COVID, PRIVATE SECTOR COALITION AGAINST COVID19 – NOT FOR SALE and likewise the 50kg bags of maize and guinea corn containing a different text perhaps indicating from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural Development.

Obviously questions which may await answers need to be asked to clear the air on the misconception.

1. Where was the palliatives that was said to have been stolen in the past and at different fora by the governor’s former spokesperson who is now occupying the position of Chief of staff?

2. was the palliative items evenly distributed and the remaining kept for time like this to be used as substitute for Ramadan gesture, since government is not financially buoyant to make provision for that, beside constructing a befitting new Government House that will consume over Six Billion Naira not to talk of pending salary issues.

3. Palliative that received a lot of allegations on the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, disaster management and social development by many Nigerian seems to have proven them wrong there by prevailing justice to Sadiya Umar Farouk by citizens of the state and beyond.

On a final note, the palliative was given by the Federal Government to caution the effect of lock down occasioned by the global Covid19 pandemic to reduce poverty, tackle hunger and prevent human related violence that could have erupted so long as people were not allowed to go on their normal activities to earn a living or living hand to mouth to survive.

Although, similar accusations were used by the same administration to potray the bad image of the immediate past government where materials provided by the Federal Government for support to the affected flood victims were then said to be hidden, not distributed or given but minute quantity, as posterity will judge, history had repeat itself in same direction if that was the case.

Remember, the 48 Laws of power by ROBERT GREENE says “USE SELECTIVE HONESTY AND GENEROSITY TO DISARM YOUR VICTIM”
