Ika Indigenes, Group Express Confidence In Ebie’s Capacity To Lead NDDC, As Agbor Community Union Pays Congratulatory Visit

The ancient city of Agbor, Delta state, Nigeria, on Thursday January 25, 2023, came alive as Agbor Community Union (ACU), led by its President General and members of the Executive notable amongst were Chiefs from the Royal Palace of the DIEN of Agbor Kingdom, paid a congratulatory visit to Barrister Chiedu Ebie, the Chairman, governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), at his country home in Agbor.

This latest visit by these well respected indigenes of Ika ethnic nationality has increased the list of such visits and endorsement of his appointment by well-meaning Ika indigenes and revered leaders of thought that have in recent times congratulated the Ika born Lawyer on his recent appointment as the helmsman of the interventionist agencies conceived chiefly to develop the region in terms of infrastructure and human capital.

While the visiting community leaders congratulated him on his appointment, they however, used the opportunity provided by the visit to solicit the support of the Commission in addressing urgent infrastructural and human capital issues in Agbor Kingdom.

Other groups and personalities of Ika origin that earlier congratulated the Ika born lawyer on his appointment, had in similar vein expressed confidence in his capacity to pilot the affairs of the agency.

The association also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing one of their sons who is very conversant with the needs of the Niger Delta region to oversee the affairs of the NDDC.

They insisted that the appointment stands as one of the best decisions the federal government has made in recent times because Ebie’s antecedents both in private and public life stands him out as an experienced and resourceful administrator who will ensure equitable representation of and rapid development of the Niger Delta region

On his part, Steve Ekiri-Mekiriuwa Ashien, another prominent Ika indigene and Publisher, Ika Weekly Newspaper, described as befitting the latest appointment of Barrister Chiedu Ebie, the new Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), adding that under his watch, NDDC will achieve its core objective of attracting a democratized infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region.
Ekiri-Mekiriuwa Ashien who spoke via a recent statement issued on behalf of the Editorial Board and entire management and staff of Ika Weekly Newspaper, a community based Newspaper in Agbor, Delta state, explained that the appointment of Barrister Chiedu Ebie perfectly qualifies as the famous ‘round peg in a round hole’, noting that Chiedu Ebie is an astute leader whose performance remains both exemplary and legendary.

Like the Ekuku-Agbor Elites Association, Ashien posited that the appointment stands as one of the best decisions President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government has made in recent time, noting that Ebie’s latest rise to grace further confirms as true the time honoured saying that ‘a golden fish has no hiding place’.
In a related development, Barrister Ebie, on Friday January 26, 2023, as part of demonstration of love for his community joined the Commander 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Asaba, Brig-Gen. Sanusi Aliyu at the Commissioning of various projects initiated by the Commander, 181 Amphibious Battalion, Lt. Col. Aliyu Nafuta Abubakar at the Battalion headquarters in Agbor.
Speaking after the commissioning exercise, Barister Ebie expressed satisfaction over the remarkable growth and development so far made by the 181 Battallion.
‘It is indeed a great delight to witness the remarkable growth and development of the young 181 Battallion which was established only a few years ago.. Kudos to the Commanding, Officers and Men of 181 Battalion’. He concluded.
