“Iyabo Ojo Not Wanted” – Police Disown Viral Poster, Warn Against Misinformation
The widely shared poster also alleged that a reward had been offered for information leading to her arrest — a claim the police have now confirmed is entirely false.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially debunked a viral “Wanted” poster circulating on social media that falsely claims Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo, is wanted by the police.
The widely shared poster also alleged that a reward had been offered for information leading to her arrest — a claim the police have now confirmed is entirely false.
In a statement issued on Thursday via the NPF’s official social media channels, the Force described the poster as “fake and misleading.”
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to clarify that the recent Wanted Person Bulletin circulating about stating that the Nollywood Actress, Iyabo Ojo is wanted by the Office of The IGP Monitoring Unit is NOT an official communication from the Force,” the statement read.
The police urged the public to exercise caution and verify any sensitive information through official channels to avoid spreading misinformation.
“The Nigeria Police Force urges members of the public to verify information through official channels and be cautious of misinformation,” the statement added.
This clarification comes amid recent controversy involving social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, who alleged that Iyabo Ojo and others attempted to frame singer Naira Marley in connection with the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba (a.k.a. Mohbad).
The police have not linked Iyabo Ojo to any ongoing investigation, and no official bulletin has been issued against her.
