Mind Restructuring: Unity, Faith, Consciousness And Sacrifice -By Richard Odusanya

It has become imperative and absolutely important to begin to backtrack from the futility and insistence of separatism as the only card on the table; the ability to reflect critically on sustainability challenges in the modern world is far beyond scratching the surface. I dare say that we have everything to worry about than just separation.

Often time a unique destiny carries a unique burden. One major difference between great minds like: Bantu Stephen Biko, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther king Jr, Kwame Nkrumah, Nwalimu Julius Nyerere, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.. and the others who are essentially fortune/comfort seekers that pride themselves as leaders. Of course, they are mostly “rulers” who succeeded in self enrichment programs.

The greatest of them all: MLK, SBK and MKO; they virtually give up everything and paid the supreme price for the generations yet unborn. They are visionary leaders, futuristic and selfless, unlike majority of the leaders we are entangled with today, in the developing world, of which Nigeria is a very bad example; they are mostly “belle face front” apology to Reuben Abati.

Starting with one of the prominent leaders of the anti apartheid, an activist, who was also a student leader in his days. He championed and mobilize most of the urban black population. Steve Biko the founder of the black consciousness movement. He paid the supreme price, died in the police detention on the 12 of September 1977. He posited, thus: “It is better to die for an idea that will live, than to live for an idea that will die.” Our heroes MLK and MKO are in the same category of men who had sacrificed their personal comfort, paid the supreme price and died for an idea that outlived them.

As we continue in the campaign of “Mind Restructuring” we will be addressing our minds on the essential guide and benefits of heroic leaders and the realities of our time; in these painstaking effort to rejuvenate our thoughts and minds to the futility of a quick fix “separatists agenda” it is necessary to emphasize the infallibility of mankind. humans are imperfect creatures; every leader must have a blacksmith who can beat them back to shape; every generation of mankind needs a few people who are essentially not clueless about the fundamentals of existential issues; our present situation demands such minds that are enjoying certain degree of grace and not necessarily carried away by emotion and sentiments, but in tune with the realities of our time.

Flowing from the above, it has become imperative and absolutely important to begin to backtrack from the futility and insistence of separatism as the only card on the table; the ability to reflect critically on sustainability challenges in the modern world is far beyond scratching the surface. I dare say that we have everything to worry about than just separation. We have a society that functions on deceitfulness, lies, fallacies and heavily materialistic; how then do you expect to produce good leadership? “When the foundation is faulty what can the rightous do? It is time to dig into our foundation.

If you don’t heal what hurt you, you’ll bleed on the people who didn’t cut you. Imagine we all did the right thing at the right time, Nigeria situation will be different and maybe our beloved country Nigeria will be one of the greatest nation on earth. Have we, in all honesty asked ourselves about how trillions of dollars accrued from revenues was mismanaged or looted? Are we not all complicit in the rot? This is the bitter truth.

Ultimately, what we actually need is a thinking generation and a competent, courageous and fearless leadership that can inspire confidence in Nigerians and navigate the citizens to greatness.
