Nigeria At 60 Years: Open Letter To President Muhammadu Buhari -By Isaiah Ogedegbe
Our children are still at home due to covid-19 restrictions, even though business activities have fully resumed. Some children have never been to school and have no hope of going to school, because there is no money to send them to school.
Your Excellency, exactly 60 years ago today, Nigeria gained her independence from Britain. Since then, we have been governed by our own citizens.
While we are happy to have come this far, we are not unaware of the many challenges facing this nation today. People are being killed like flies in the country; insecurity is on the increase.
Nigerians are complaining; there is hunger everywhere. The prices of commodities in the market have gone up; fuel price has gone up too.
People are celebrating the independence in darkness; there is no electricity to watch the independence celebration on television or listen to it on radio.
Our children are still at home due to covid-19 restrictions, even though business activities have fully resumed. Some children have never been to school and have no hope of going to school, because there is no money to send them to school.
Many youths are jobless; they are not lazy, but cannot find any employment opportunity anywhere. Our people are suffering now that Nigeria is 60 years.
