Overcoming Mohammed Nafiu’s Revenge Porn -By Gimba Kakanda

On Sunday, November 22nd, Mohammed Nafiu reached out to his ex-girlfriend and initiated a conversation. He was angry that she had deleted his number, and asked to meet her.

She told him she’s already in a relationship, and wouldn’t want any form of contact with him. That’s when he reminded her that he’s still in possession of her nude photos, and that he would send the photos to an Instagram account called Hausa Gossips (@Hausa_gossips), which was notorious for publishing non-consensual sexual images of women with the aim of defaming them. Interestingly, he’s not meant to be in possession of the nudes because they were sent via Snapchat—an app designed to erase any message sent immediately after viewing. Obviously, he took shots of her shared nudes with another phone, betraying her trust.

Mohammed Nafiu’s condition to back down from the threat was that the girl must meet him at a hotel in Abuja on Tuesday, November 24th, 2020. She had intended to play along based on advice.

Unfortunately, he still had a condition. He wanted the girl to send him more photos of her to satisfy his sexual fantasy before their Tuesday meeting. She refused, and sought the advice of the police on ways to resolve the blackmail.

That’s where I came into the picture. I was contacted and given full details of the threat. I informed my police friends immediately, and we were advised to have him lured to the hotel in Abuja, where he would be arrested.

But Mohammed Nafiu was outraged by her refusal to send him her photos, and so asked her to expect her photos on Instagram in the night of November 22nd. This threat led her to inform her friends to publicize the blackmail on social media, and reveal his intention to publish her nudes. I also rushed to report the Instagram account he threatened to send the nude photos, and it’s already been taken down. Since sharing about this revenge porn case, many other women have shared their testimonies on social media, to testify to how Mohammed Nafiu had blackmailed them too.

The lady in question here is just 18, and still a teenager. And Mohammed Nafiu, who’s currently a Nigerian student at The Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Alexandria, Egypt, is reportedly in his mid 30s.

I took it upon myself to pursue this case, and I’ve petitioned the Inspector-General of the Police, and the Interpol, to go after this sexual predator who’s been rushing to erase his social media presence. He’s still in possession of the teenager’s nudes and so the case of blackmail still stands.

He threatened to publish her nudes through his WhatsApp, with mobile phone number register to an Egyptian carrier: +201151661234.

His social media accounts as of November 23rd are:

Instagram: @alfemo__, with username Naf.

I’m interested in this case because so many innocent ladies are being abused by the Mohammed Nafius who manipulate them, betray their trust, and cite or deploy secretly shared nudes to blackmail them into doing things against their will or morality. I hope to make sure that this predator is the last to ever consider revenge porn in this part of the world.
