As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approaches his first year in office, voices from the Northern Nigeria Senators Association echo concerns about his administration’s effectiveness in addressing the region’s pressing issues. Chairman Abdul Ahmed Ningi, a member of the ruling PDP party, questions Tinubu’s grasp of governance in Nigeria, citing a lack of tangible progress and worsening conditions in the North.

From the onset of Tinubu’s presidency, the Northern region has witnessed a troubling surge in insecurity, marked by rampant kidnappings, banditry, and economic turmoil. Despite promises of change, the reality on the ground paints a starkly different picture, with Northern communities bearing the brunt of escalating crises.

Senator Ningi’s remarks underscore a growing sentiment among Northern leaders and citizens alike: Is President Tinubu truly the right person for the job?
