Clearly, Abba Kyari’s operation resonated in every nook and cranny of the country. He seems to know how and when to track these criminal that have made life unbearable for our country. He recorded tremendous success every where he operated and left his mark. And obviously, the only group that seems to be celebrating his continued incarceration is the criminal elements in the country that appears to be having a field day in his absence. Thus, there is a crying need to review his case and reinstate him and the country will be better for it.
One may wonder why I have taken time to do these lengthy treaties. I have learnt that civil advocacy is not just about criticism of public policies but about fighting for the rights of the individuals, championing supporting the crusade for what will promote peace and public interest. And I believe as some others do that the release of DCP Abba Kyari will be for the best interest of national security. His record of service indicates that he is unarguably the best investigative crack shot the Nigerian Police has ever produced. He is the super cop that every other office wants to be like. So, we cannot throw our best away especially now that we need his services given the worrisome level of insecurity in our country.
Without doubt, Abba Kyari reinstatement will boost crime fighting now that there is insecurity in the land. As someone who knows the turf, it will be quite easy for him to navigate the landscape and crack the many unresolved cases that occurred this period that he is in Kuje. He can also be drafted to train and groom young officers in the art of crime fighting.
Abba Kyari worked with dedication. He was married to his career and was committed to his passion to combat crime. If he was corrupt as he is being painted, he would not have been able to record the tremendous success that distinguished him from others; he would have compromised his job and hanker after personal gains. Available police records show that Mr. Abba Kyari has over 90% success rate in all cases that he handled and that is phenomenal in this age where criminals use all subtle means to operate and evade arrest.
I will continue by listing some of the many cases that he cracked and in the next letter I will try to highlight some of the numerous awards and recognitions he got in the course of his duty. I will also try to draw your attention to the many unresolved cases that has occurred since his unceremonious exit from the scene. I will also cite examples of those who in the past were dismissed from service and later recalled to service.
It is actually impossible to list all the major cases and arrest that Abba Kyari handled in an essay of this scope but here are a few to buttress my point. My research shows that it was Abba Kyari that investigated and arrested deadly armed robbers and murderers that escaped from SARS office in Lokoja, Kogi State. He was also responsible for the arrest of the notorious armed robber in Ibadan named Abiodun Egunjobi alias Godogodo who was a serial murderer that killed over five hundred (500) innocent people including police officers. Kyari spearheaded the arrest of the kidnappers and murderers of the production of the Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Limited, Mr. Ubani Onyema in Port-Harcourt, River State. Also in Port-Harcourt, he masterminded the arrest of the deadly kidnappers responsible for kidnapping of Dr. Alex Pepple. It was Abba Kyari also who apprehended the notorious assassin and a serial killer in the Southwest known as Ade Lawyer and his infamous gang responsible for the gruesome murders of innocent citizens in Lagos and in some part of Southwest Nigeria. Also in Lagos, it was Abba Kyari who arrested the masterminds and the murderers of Mr. Uba Emmanuel alias “Onwa” in Festac Town and the arrest of the kidnappers of the Isheri landlords. It was he who arrest the notorious gang plotting to kidnap the billionaire business mogul Mr. Femi Otedola. The arrest of the kidnappers of the Oniba of Iba, a first class traditional ruler in Lagos was effected by Mr. Abba Kyari. He also apprehended the kidnappers of the former chairman of Ejigbo Local Government Area and those of the kidnappers of the three Orekoya children. Again, he arrested the militants and the armed robbers who terrorized and robbed banks in Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac Town and Agbara in Ogun State. Mr. Abba Kyari was responsible for the arrest of Adetsyo Adediran and gang of seven kidnappers responsible for the kidnapping and killing of a Chinese citizen Mr. Defa Song in February, 2020 in Ogun State. Again, he was responsible for the arrest of one Abdulazeez Amao and his gang of smugglers notorious for illegal smuggling assorted rifles and ammunition from Libya to Nigeria and supplying them to kidnappers and bandits. He led the team that arrested the criminal-minded pastor, Apostle Tokunbo and his gang of kidnappers and the rescue of one Mr. Jonathan Ekpo whom they abducted and kept in an underground cell in his church.
