The Role Of Technology In Teaching And Learning -By Fareeda Y. Tijjani

Technology has also helped in developing societies. A society with educated people is a healthy society and because of technology, students can get educated even if they’re not physically present in classrooms. Such a society will be loved and admired. If there are many other members of such a society enjoying same technology this way, the whole country or state will be loved as well.

Technology has played a vital role in teaching and learning in our world today, with the use of laptops, electronic boards and projector in the classroom, teachers now act only as supervisors. Gone are the days when teachers have to stand in front of students and scream on top of their voices just to make sure that the students understand what they are teaching. Technology has saved them that energy.

Technology has also made learning easier and faster for students. Students nowadays can go to the Internet for their assignments, which is easier and faster than checking thousands of books in the library.

Let me take you back to 2019\2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown. Students were forced to stay at home until God-knows-when before attending classes. But our saviour, technology, came to the rescue. Thanks to technology. We can attend classes online and listen to broadcasts on television, radio and so on. It is just like being in classes. If not for technology, only the Almighty knows what would have become of us when schools finally resumed.

Also, online classes greatly aid in teaching and learning. E.g zoom/google classes, YouTube classes, Telegram/Whatsapp classes and more. Personally, if not for technology, how would I have attended a mentorship program organized and ran by the UWA. They give us lectures, class exercises and even examinations online.

Furthermore, technology has made life easier for the parents of students. Because of technology, parents no longer have to worry about their children’s interactions online. Technological appliances like trackers, security cameras and so on, help the parents to supervise and censor the contents their children navigate online. We cannot deny the fact that children can be naughty sometimes. It is in their nature. For example, a parent asks his/her child to go to his/her room to read for exams. That student may just go into his/her room, close the door and pick up his/her phone to chat with friends. When the mother asks him/her if they’ve read, they might answer in the affirmative; when it is truly otherwise. If there is a security camera in the room, the parent can find out easily and force the.child to read his/her books. So, you see, technology has helped the child to learn something even if he/she doesn’t want to. By this, It has also helped the parent to keep up with their child’s wellbeing.

Technology has also helped in developing societies. A society with educated people is a healthy society and because of technology, students can get educated even if they’re not physically present in classrooms. Such a society will be loved and admired. If there are many other members of such a society enjoying same technology this way, the whole country or state will be loved as well.

In conclusion, technology has played a very vital role in not just education, but many other aspects of life. We appreciate technology which made our youths educated and the job of teachers and parents easier.
