The primary responsibility of any responsible government is the protection of lives and properties of its citizens as it is enshrined in the Nigerian constitution and other coded laws. This mandate is non-negotiable responsibility but unfortunately the criminals are trying to overrun the government, the technique and tactics deployed by the security personnel in fighting Boko Haram and Banditry has proven unsuccessful, therefore, there is need for adoption of more robust method to tackle the spate of insecurity across the country.

The level of popularity garnered by this government was its boosted comment to address the security challenges bedeviling the country, which was indiscriminate bombing across the northeast and some part of the northwest and also banditry in some part of northwest. These security problems halted the growth of the country’s economy, therefore people voted the APC led government to have peaceful atmosphere in Nigeria. We set aside all our political differences and affiliations to ethnic group and religion to vote Buhari’s government so that we would be liberated from so many challenges affecting the country. But unfortunately the reverse is the case.

The government should stop the blame game and face the problems squarely.

It’s well known fact, to tackle the menace of insecurity, the government must to deploy the use of contemporary ways in fighting insecurity which is far beyond the use of force. Government should embrace dialogue and amnesty to repented criminals, it will really make positive impact on our security system. Government should do everything humanly possible to address the high cost of living, unemployment among the youth, poverty and other issues that fuel the insecurity in the country. Government should also reduce the cost of governance which usually impoverish the economy of the country and affect the life of ordinary citizens. If this measures and more flexible ways are to be use by the government, the level of insecurity will drastically be reduce.
