The incompetence of any country’s armed forces can have catastrophic consequences, leading to the unnecessary loss of innocent civilian lives as we are witnessing it in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, the attack carried out on Sunday night 3rd of December by Nigeria’s army in Tudun Biri village of Kaduna state’s Igabi council area, which as resulted in lost of lives for civilians especially children. Is as a result of incompetence by Nigeria’s Army. It’s a shame that we delve into the unsettling reality of how Nigeria’s military, tasked with the protection of its citizens, has erred in tragic fashion.

Mistaken bombings are a clear violation of international humanitarian law, with devastating impacts on the lives and livelihoods of innocent civilians. Families are torn apart, homes are reduced to rubble, and livelihoods vanish overnight. Too often, the consequences bear an irreversible mark on the affected communities, painting a bleak picture of the incompetence displayed by Nigeria’s army.

Communication and coordination failure, are the major factors contributing to these incompetency tagged as ( mistake ) by Nigerian military. Effective communication between different units, as well as with intelligence agencies, is crucial in avoiding chaos and misinterpretation of vital information. Failure in transmitting accurate information about potential targets can lead to lethal errors with far reaching implications.

Training and using adequate equipments, Nigeria’s army should provide its personnel with comprehensive, upto date training and equip them adequately to avoid such tragic mistakes. Adequate training includes the proper use and identification of weaponry and targets. Without proper intelligence gathering and target identification, the risk of civilian casualties remains high. Modern technologies and equipment can play a pivotal role in minimizing the chances of such accidents but their is no use in having sophisticated weapon when you lack personnel that can make use of it in a proper way.

Transparency and accountability should be considered in the aftermath of these tragic incidents, Nigeria’s army in collaboration with other stakeholders should conduct thorough investigations to determine the reason for the error and subsequently hold individuals accountable. Transparency is essential for rebuilding trust and ensuring that similar incidents are not repeated in the future. Victims and their families deserve justice through lawful compensation, support, and assistance to help them recover from the trauma and loss inflicted upon them not only hospital visit and medical treatment alone, they should provide some other amenities in their area which will make their lives flourish, this can be achieve by working with government and NGOs.

In conclusion, the incompetence displayed by Nigeria’s army by bombing civilians and called it a “mistake” is a tragic reality that highlights the urgent need for improvement and reform of our army. It is essential for the Nigerian government and military leadership to take swift actions aimed at preventing such incidents and upholding our commitment in making our country to international humanitarian standards. The lives and well-being of innocent civilians must always take precedence over any military objectives. Moreover, accountability and transparency withing the army and government should be at the forefront of efforts to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
