We Should Not Make Culture Or Religion A Pre-requisite When Chosen A Public Leader -By Adam Ibrahim Idris

Let’s try not to lose our friendship because of politicians. Don’t fight or antagonize someone who won’t fight for you. Most of these candidates prefere their own position more than our lifes, so what will make us sacrifice our own life because of them?

Culture is a complete way of life of people under their children, their religion, their environment and society. According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “the culture of Nigeria is shaped by Nigeria’s multiple ethnic groups. The country has over 50 languages and over 250 dialects and ethnic groups. The three largest ethnic groups are the Hausa-Fulani who are predominant in the north, the Igbo who are predominant in the south-east, and the Yoruba who are predominant in the southwest. The Edo people are predominant in the region between Yoruba land and Igbo land. Much of the Edo tends to be Christian while the remaining 25 percent worship deities called Ogu. This group is followed by the Ibibio/Annang/Efik people of the coastal southeastern Nigeria and the Ijaw of the Niger Delta”.

In this country, this is a words ” culture and religion” used by a section of people to criticize any movement or campaign that did not work for them, whether it is similar to someone they tried to fail, or it is against their will or ideology or opinion.

The teaching and practice of religion today is full of confusion and noise, it has been taken down from what the religion came with and the things that others have brought in their lives and lifes of other people with the hope of getting their own intereste.

What I don’t agree with is the completeness of the religious people today, and I am not satisfied with the truth of the religion they teach and practice in their daily affairs. Many people think that sitting in front of a church or mosque, reading the Qur’an or Bible or and others religion affairs that may hinder people to things they are more closer to god. There are many people today they may found them with Lies, betrayal, fraud in trust, hypocrisy, greed, envy, deception, enmity, and all kinds of evil deed and they always not skip sitting in front of a church or mosque.

There is no other situation that we fall into except that we introduce difference into it. Only the deaths of those we care about that touch us directly because of difference of the religion or culture. We care less about the humanity that what unites us.

The countries that we heard in the past are struggling with how their affairs are becoming backward, today they are developing more than expectations because they are always thinking and analyzing the way to provide themselves with development and here we are focusing on the problems of religious and ethnic differences. We hate each other for no reason.

Let’s try not to lose our friendship because of politicians. Don’t fight or antagonize someone who won’t fight for you. Most of these candidates prefere their own position more than our lifes, so what will make us sacrifice our own life because of them?

If that is the case, then Nigerians should study carefully to know the candidate they will vote for who will bring good leadership regardless of ethnicity, religion or sectarianism. It is very important for Nigerians to avoid being greedy for the money that candidates give them in electing a leader or representative to lead the nation.
