When Love Is Ignored: The Silent Pain of a Neglected Wife -By Ruwaida Abdullahi Makzy

Marriage is more than just providing money or a roof over the family’s head. It is about being emotionally present, giving time, and sharing genuine companionship. A husband’s time, affection, and attention matter just as much as his financial support. Men must learn to value the presence and partnership of their wives before the damage becomes too deep. Because sometimes, when a woman grows silent, it’s already too late.

Crying-woman - Islam and muslim woman in marriage

In many marriages today, women are silently suffering due to the emotional absence of their husbands. It’s not that these men are too busy with work or serious responsibilities—instead, they choose to spend their time outside, either with other women or engaging in meaningless activities, while neglecting their partners at home. This behavior leaves many wives feeling lonely, unimportant, and emotionally abandoned.

When these women try to express their pain, they are often met with dismissive responses like, “Find something to do” or “Stop overthinking.” These statements may seem harmless, but they deeply wound the heart of a woman who is simply seeking connection, attention, and love. If this emotional neglect continues, it slowly breaks the bond in the marriage—leading to regret, distance, or even complete breakdown. It can also push the woman to seek comfort and attention elsewhere, because her emotional needs were left unmet by her husband.

Please, do not be the reason your wife starts looking outside the home for the care and attention she was supposed to receive from you.
