If God does not permit, even that rich cousin of yours will just not be able to help you. So put your trust in the source of all blessings — God! Don’t even develop confidence in your bank account or your reputation or talent, or business connection, or level of education. The end time is about a spiritual contest revolving around worship and nothing else would matter.

On the very last day before the first Covid-19 lockdown in May 2020, I was led to send some cash to a man. I will refer to him simply as Uncle NK. This was a few hours before the commencement of the lockdown. There had never been anything like it before in Nigeria but, through international news channels, Nigerians had gotten some hint about what a lockdown meant because Europe and America were already locked down by that time. Still, the countdown to Nigeria’s own lockdown was a season of anxiety. Especially for people with no cash. The prospect of starvation stared such people in the face because the government had eerily announced that there will be no movement. Our “gallant” Nigeria police eventually monetized this government directive and opened trunk A federal roads to transporters willing to part with enough cash; but nobody knew that the police was going to open this window of opportunity. So the lockdown appeared terrifying — more terrifying than it eventually became.

As people rushed to empty grocery stores all around Abuja, I also went to top off supplies at Maitama Fruit Market. Utako market was a madhouse and, although Maitama was a little bit more pricey, I opted for that. It was after that shopping that I went to fill up my tank. While at the filling station — this was past 4pm already — I thought of Uncle NK and decided to send him N100k. Uncle NK had been stupendously nice to us as a family and had manifested this kindness by being nice to my younger brother. So I agreed with the leading and was even excited at the prospect of showing gratitude to this very kind man. Uncle NK is not a poor man; and I wasn’t trying to feed his family by that cash gift. But, unknown to me, Uncle NK was very broke at that time: he was broke enough to have knelt down that very morning and prayed to God to provide for him and his family so they will not starve — or be put to shame — during the lockdown.

When I wanted to send the 100k, a bank withdrawal report denied my request. I tried to send 50k and again realized that 50k will exceed my withdrawal limit for that day. Of course I had spent some cash already and did not know I was going to send money to anybody. In fact, this is evidence that the thought of sending money to Uncle NK was sudden and not anticipated. I eventually tried to send Uncle NK 30k and it went through. Of course I wasn’t too happy. Why? Because it was 100k I wanted to send to him. But my emotional state was set to change drastically.

Shortly after I got the alert for the transfer, I got a call from Uncle NK. The man had broken down in tears of gratitude to God when he saw my unexpected cash gift. Like I said, he is not a poor man. But the timing was proof that God had answered the prayers he made just that morning, with his wife. It was after crying that he called me. He was so grateful the only thing I could think of was that, what if the 100k had gone through? What type of thanks will he be offering? The spirit of this man was revived as God proved to him that He is a God that can bring water out of stone and do things beyond our imagination. But that’s not all.

Never you put your trust in man!

Why?

Think about this: I intended to send this man 100k. In retrospect, it became clear to me that God only wanted me to send him 30k. Perhaps so I could help others; perhaps because 30k was the perfect amount He wanted Uncle NK to have at that time. But watch how providence overruled my decision and I ended up sending only what God wanted me to send. And this man was so grateful and he was able to use the remaining hours of that fateful day to stock up for the lockdown. This is highly significant because the Bible says:

John 3:27
A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Very soon, the money will fail;

Or the ability to buy and sell will be contingent upon receiving the mark of the beast.

If you do not have faith in God, you will reluctantly accept the mark of the beast just to survive.

Why?

You will not believe that God has everything figured out — just like He had in Uncle NK’s case. And this is why, before the mark of the beast crisis, God may begin to tone your faith muscles by allowing you go through financial stress — while taking care of you in miraculous ways — so that you will learn to trust Him.

May God have mercy on all of us.
