A Peep Into Plagiarism In Our Society Today -By Isaiah Ogedegbe

Plagiarism is the act of using another person’s work without giving credit to the original owner of the work. It could be described as “intellectual theft”. This phenomenon, which has become so common in our society today, robs some people of originality and credibility.

On 27 February 2017, a report by news medium made public a case of plagiarism involving a Nigerian religious figure. The controversial prophet was exposed to be a plagiarist who stole prophecies from several prophets, compiled them and published them as his own.

Plagiarism is the act of using another person’s work without giving credit to the original owner of the work. It could be described as “intellectual theft”. This phenomenon, which has become so common in our society today, robs some people of originality and credibility.

Today, some University students plagiarize. Even some men of God, like the instance given above, plagiarize the words of fellow men of God in a bid to prophesy. Some musicians steal songs from one another, do a little modification and release the song as their own original song. Some comedians steal jokes from one another.

Recently, one reporter republished my content, but did not mention my name in it. This is also plagiarism.
