Life And People
An Ode To The Queen Of Hearts -By Hajia Hadiza Mohammed
Though you’re gone, but I know that
You will continue to live in the hearts of those you touched
Go in peace the ambassador of peace!
Sister K rest in peace!
Adieu the lady with the heart of gold till we meet to part no more!
Je nke oma! Ka ome sie!
It is hard to believe;
Difficult indeed to accept that you have gone
The news is heart-rending;
Ears are tingling, hearts are whimpering and eyes are popping
In astonishment wishing that it is a dream
But alas it’s not; it’s a stark reality
It is difficult to believe;
That you Onyekaosor Felicia Akpapunam is gone
It is horrifying to swallow the fact that the daughter of Chukwurah is no more
Lady Kosor, the Amazon, the elegant lady has transited
The deaconess, the daughter of Zion has left us unceremoniously
The Ojogwuani of Ezi has exited
The people in Asaba are mourning their noble daughter
The people in Ezi are sorrowing for loss of their wife, their jewel
Those in London where it occurred are crying for the exit of the Queen of Hearts
AGGS Asaba, FTC, Illorin, Kaduna Poly, Pitman College London
The institutions that had your enviable records will mourn
Ministry of Establishment and AGIP Oil where you toiled will mourn
Kosor Foundation will bewail their exit
You left me shattered, hopeless without a word
My counselor, my mentor, my big sister, sister like no other
My second mother is gone like a candle in the wind
Snuffed out ere the mellow time
Who will console me?
Who will clean my tears drops?
Who will dab by sweat dropping like a rivulet of the Niger?
The day 22nd September will forever be etched in my mind
The day you departed this sinful world for the great beyond
Had I the power, I would have invoked a curse on that day
You left Nigeria hail and hearty to visit your people
But you will be returning home in a body bag
What an irony!
Kosor, you were irreplaceable!
You lived exemplary life
Those you touched are bewailing your untimely exit
You cared for the poor, the needy and the vulnerable
You were a pillar of hope to the orphans and widows
You were my anchor
Though you’re gone, but I know that
You will continue to live in the hearts of those you touched
Go in peace the ambassador of peace!
Sister K rest in peace!
Adieu the lady with the heart of gold till we meet to part no more!
Je nke oma! Ka ome sie!
With much love,
Hajia Hadiza Mohammed (Jagaban)
