Adewale Azeez

I congratulate you for your appointment as the special adviser on students affairs to the executive Governor of Ogun State, Gov Dapo Abiodun. This is a well deserved appointment and also a development to the student community in the state, your doggedness and love for the student society will reduce the burden of students and it will equally help solve some technical issues, most especially one that concerns students studying in Ogun state.

It is pertinent I write to you as this time. There is a dire need for you to look into some issues students are faced with and bring Deliverance to them, especially now that you have been appointed to speak to the ears of the Governor on things that negatively affect the welferism of students in the state.

One of the first issue I want you to look into as is the anti-student policies enacted by managements of different institutions in Ogun state. This policies have reduced the trust we have for education in the state and have equally made life unbearable for students. Any policy being practised in any institution that doesn’t affect the lives of students positively can be tagged as anti-student policies. Frankly speaking, a lot of institution in the state have these policies.

Another issue begging for attention is the delay of students Union elections in some institutions in the state.  If students leaders are not elected into executive positions to represents the students, through which medium will grievances be channeled? The management go as far as deliberately deciding to withhold election sometimes for no logical reasons. Students end up keeping mute, suffering in silence. Through your position as the Special adviser to the Governor, you can ensure that election are being conducted as when due  as this will go a long way in helping the student community.

Furthermore we have some institutions with dilapidated structures, insufficient learning equipments and poor academic environment. Some of the students in these institutions pay huge amount for school fees and other necessary and unnecessary fees yet they can’t afford to get educated in a good academic atmosphere. Please I beg you to look into this also.

Your appointment as the Special adviser on students matters came at the right time and we believe in your capacity and trusting on you to look into these aforementioned issues.
