The much-awaited arraignment of the former governor has been delayed since the Kano State administration was unable to serve criminal charges on Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ganduje was scheduled to be charged on eight counts of charges, including bribery accusation of $413,000, diversion of funds, and misuse of funds totaling N1.38 billion, together with his wife Hafsat Ganduje, son Umar Abdullahi Umar, and five other people.

Bar. Y. A. Adamu, the Kano State government’s attorney, informed the court that they were unable to personally serve the respondents.

However, Adamu tried to file an exparte motion application, hoping to serve the respondents by using a different method, but Bar. Nureini Jimoh SAN, the counsel for the sixth respondent, objected.

Jimoh instructed the prosecution to complete its job, pointing out that ex parte motions for serving criminal charges are not permitted and pledging to contest such a move in the Court of Appeal.

But Justice Na’abba, the presiding judge, postponed the decision until April 29, 2024.

Remember that Ganduje, his wife, son, and five other people were recently hauled before the Kano State government.
