Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, was escorted out of his Abuja residence by Governor Usman Ododo, his successor, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Channels Television said that this previously mentioned information came from a trustworthy source at the EFCC.

This comes after anti-graft agency agents spent the majority of Wednesday under siege at the former Kogi governor’s home in Wuse Zone 4.

Bello’s home and driveway were blocked off by the EFCC on Thursday in an effort to have him taken into custody and charged with corruption.

After some time, the Kogi State governor departed the office of his predecessor, and Bello was confirmed to have gone with him by the anti-graft agency.

This revelation now casts doubt on the ex-governor’s anticipated Thursday 19-count charge arraignment before Federal High Court Abuja Judge Emeka Nwite.

Regarding the former governor of Kogi’s detention on Wednesday, there were contradicting court orders.

One of the decisions, rendered by a Kogi State High Court in Lokoja, barred the EFCC from taking Bello into custody or initiating legal action against him.

Justice I.A Jamil, who gave the order in a two-hour ruling on Wednesday, said that infringing on the fundamental human rights of the former Kogi is null and void except as authorised by the Court.

“By this order, the EFCC is hereby restrained from arresting, detaining and prosecuting the applicant except as authorised by the Court.

“This is a definite order following the earlier interim injunction given,” he said.

The EFCC, however, obtained permission from the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to arrest the ex-Kogi State governor in preparation to his arraignment on Thursday.
