Truthfulness will make you stay away from sins, and you will observe unusual success, not only in this world, but also in the hereafter. The Quran says it clearly: “This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness… ” [Quran, 5:119]. The Prophet Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him) said, as narrated by Abdullah (Radiyallahu Anihu): Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. Falsehood leads to wickedness or evil-doing, and wickedness leads to the (Hell) fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar. (Bukhari)

You know it is prohibited in Islam and so you control yourself for the sake of Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalah) and do good deeds for His sake as well. One of your friends scolds you for no reason and your mind insists you to fight back, but you control yourself and hold patience.
