The Rhythm Of War In Nigeria -By Richard Obeneme

Nigeria is blessed country with diversity of ethnic groups, languages with rich cultural heritage. It’s equally blessed with abundance of natural, material and human resources as evident in the brilliant performances of her sons and daughters in various positions they occupied in their fields of endeavours world over. They have made remarkable and tremendous achievements in science, technology, politics, commerce, economic, sports, engineering, medicine , and oil and gas etc.
This diversity of languages and cultural heritage no doubt are some of those advantages that made us to be stronger and earned us accolade and giant of Africa in the committee of all nations.
However, the inability of our leaders to managed this diversity over the years placed the country in a dangerous mode and it’s worrisome .
.
The echo of the three 3 years old (1967-70 ,) senseless Nigeria civil war has resorated and it’s rythms is vibrating more louder in this administration of General Mohammed Buhari.
We are dare in need of urgent and delibrate steps to calm the nerves and tension generated as a result of the high-handedness in dealing with the issues as it concern the citizens especially the minority rights groups, the opposition parties and other religious bodies ,
The emergence of this ethnic bigotries, the negative utterances especially from Mr President and his aids in presidency is clear sign of threat to our peaceful co-existance.

I am afraid if care is taking the 52 years old history is about to repeat itself in this west Africa country.
The entire country is bleeding and plaqued with sad and untold hardships, stories of frustrations as faced by our people from Maduguri to Port Harcourt, Delta to Kano etc as results of kidnapping, raping of our wives and daughters, robbering, the incessant daily killings by these Fulanis herdmen, bandits mostly in the northern part of the country, the attacks on mostly the security formations by the unknown gunmen in the south east/ south etc is unbearable . The thought of imagining that one is part of a country incapable of protecting your life from internal insecurity to start with, is terrifying, traumatic and devastating.
It’s obvious the country is bleeding and swinging towards a failed state. It appears that things are falling apart as the center can no longer hold water. One will be force to query what happened to the security architecture of the nation? despite huge amount of billion of dollars and other resources commented in the fight against the insurgency.
Although with due rest to the President and the security agencies are doing their possible best, but it appears they are overwhelmed with the challenges.

At this juncture since we can’t afford another round of civil war, it is wise for Mr. President Mohammed Buhari and other well meaning Nigerians to jettison the ego and convoke National Peace Conference in order to exploit all peaceful avenues in a round table to fashion out the way and means to enthrone a peaceful and resourceful Nigeria which will strengthen the bounds of national unity and cohestion.

Mr. President with due respect Sir, this is not the right time to issue threats and warning to your citizens. Honestly, it is not also good on record book of God for one to kill your neighbors, bothers and sisters or anybody no matter the political and religious affliation as well as distroyed property of anybody or govt acceses under any guise.

Therefore, I urge the international community and all the good people of the world to come to the aid of Nigeria and Nigerians in this our trying moment to join forces with us to deal with this menace.

Let’s come together and make Nigeria great!!!
