War Doesn’t Characterizes Us, But Peace -By Usama Abdullahi

Biafra war

Let’s talk to ourselves in a rational manner: we are together a strong nation, for we mustn’t allow the gagas to tear us apart. Midst these shocking troubles we must stand to confront all that mean bringing us down. It troubles me most while watching how some of us are trying to stir up animosities toward each other.

I believe in one Nigeria. And to me, nothing provides more joy to every citizens of a state than unity. Unity is a bedrock of every nation; through it a country attains its dreams. The incident that occurred in the 1966/19967 shouldn’t be put on repeat. Let’s forget and forgive all that had happened. We are emerging into a new world, which the most we expect is peace. Never should we desire to witness yet another gruesome killings. Never.

Let us not bring live the picture of the civil war that betided 50-something-years.The events are unworthy of reminiscing. The death of our fallen heroes is still boiling our heart. It is the ugly incidents that caused the fate of Sardauna, Tafawa Balewa, Maimalari, and the likes. So why should we hope to experience these again? For the love of power? Oh, no.

Agitating for self-government is one worst thing in history. What is it we need so dearly more than to be well balanced? Isn’t it seeing smiles on each other’s faces? I will say it again and again that being apart doesn’t characterises us, but peace does. If we continue to live peacefully, no greater force can total us.Otherwise, the consequences will be heavier than we could bear.

Sunday Igboho

The regular killings we see shall soon withdraw. Calling for division wont’ quieten the battle within rather fuel it. This is not the right time to agitate for BIAFRA, ODUDUWA REPUBLIC OR AREWA REPUBLIC. It’s the time needed for restoration of peace to the ruined part of the country. An era we should live to redress the damages done by the terrorists and ourselves, too.

Thinking that we have the possible means of controlling the affairs of our regions when parted isn’t the best to consider right now, but how the regions can join hands in healing the damages, help in battling terrorism for smooth running of the country. Suppose these should be our foremost reasoning and not quickening the acts of violence in the country.

People should not hunger for power if they can’t even have control over their emotions. We need a one peacful country, Nigeria. For that is our only hope. I pray for calm atmosphere.
